Speed Dating Materials

All: Privately choose three materials samples each that you think are of interest to your collaborative work. Put these samples in a plain box file, close the lid, and hand it to the other person.

Designer(s): When instructed to open up your box file by the Materials Scientist(s), physically interrogate your objects and give the Materials Scientist(s) your immediate, intuitive responses to the items inside, one by one. Spend one minute on each object. There’s no right or wrong response - this exercise aims to elicit your immediate and physical responses.

All: Pick one material from your box that is your favourite, and explain the reasons for your choice. Now discuss your chosen objects and reactions to them.
